i have a gm-ve isolate from et tip in my lab which is oxidase -ve, indole -ve, all sugars -ve , motile ,urea -ve, citrate-ve tsi k/a which is declared alcaligens spp by api on basis of id 32 i,m confused tell me what it is?
We cannot identify your isolates based on the reactions you have given. You state that the organism is oxidase negative and TSI K/A. This is the typical pattern for an enterobacteriaceae. Suggest we recheck TSI and oxidase. If organism is a fermenter then trying setting up API 20E. All Alcaligenes are oxidase positive and non-fermenters therefore your results do not make sense. If your organism is a non-fermenter you will have to set up additional test to confirm ID. I good reference to use is Koneman's Color Atlas and Textbook of Diagnostic Microbiology 6th ed. 2006, Chapt 6, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
