Should we testing all streptococci for inducible clindamycin resistnace?
As stated in the 2007 CLSI M100-S17 antimicrobial susceptibility testing document, macrolide-resistant isolates of beta-hemolytic streptococci may have inducible resistance to clindamycin that can be detected using disk diffusion. When we receive requests for susceptibility testing on beta-hemolytic streptococcal isolates, we routinely evaluate them for the presence of inducible clindamycin resistance.
