Perhaps the best medium for the recovery of Nocardia and the other aerobic actinomycetes is Buffered Charcoal-Yeast Extract Agar (BCYE) that is used for the recovery of Legionella. Selective BYCE may be used when culturing contaminated specimens such as respiratory tract specimens. Thayer Martin medium has also been advocated by some investigators. In addition, some strains of Nocardia are able to withstand the sodium hydroxide decontamination procedure used for the recovery of Mycobacteria and may be recovered on Middlebrook media.
I hope that this information is of help to you.
