In a word, "no."
Atrophic vaginitis is a noninfectious etiology. It and other noninfectious causes of vaginitis will be diagnosed by an obstetrician/gynecologist or dermatologist and may involve performing a biopsy for interpretation by a surgical pathologist.
Desquamative inflammatory vaginitis (DIV) is an uncommon diagnosis with an uncertain etiology. Patients tend to respond to clindamycin therapy and group B strep has been recovered from SOME of the women. Culture should be performed on a case by case basis and only after discussion with the clinician caring for the patient.
