What is the significance of isolating MRCons from Umbical Artery Catheter & Umblical Venous Catheter of neonates.Baby is Clinically stable do we have to report it.We isolate Lot of MRCoNS from ET TIP,Trachestomy tips any guidelines on reporting.Thank you.

I am going to assume that you are referring to cultures of neonates in the NBICU. In general, neonatologists are extremely conservative with respect to management of infectious diseases in at-risk babies and will frequently use antimicrobials in settings in which other clinicians would not. In my experience attempts to unilaterally minimize either the work-up or reporting of organisms from NBICU cultures will meet significant resistance from the clinicians unless you can get them to buy into whatever restrictions you wish to place on reports from non-sterile collections like ET tubes, catheters etc. I would suggest that you talk to the head of the NICU and get his or her perspective on this issue and proceed from there.
